Below is a list of the best new local beer that I have tasted this winter. I’m not very talented at describing the taste of beer—so I’m not going to try reviewing the beers. You can follow the links below to Rate Beer for more detailed information on taste, smell, and looks of each of the beers.

However, I do have to say that the Mikkeller Big Worst is nothing less than transcendent! Try it if you get the chance—and if you dare.

Last summer while vacating in California I got the chance to play Disc Golf (yes, it’s golf but played with a frisbee (or disc as it’s preferably called because Frisbee is a registered trademark of the toy company Wham-O)).

If you want a little taste of what it’s all about then try watching this this promotional video:

It’s much more fun to play Disc Golf than to watch it on TV, of course, and it’s both easy and cheap to get started. I have quite a collection of discs already (see below) and most places around the world (and especially in the US) have disc golf courses nearby.

If you are around Copenhagen let me know if you want to meet up and have a game.

My golf discs. Each disc has different flight characteristics; some fly long (drivers), some short (putters), and some fly more easilty to the left and some to the right.

Got some new beers for x-mas:

AleSmith: IPA

Founders: Curmudgeon Old Ale
and last but certainly not least:
Mikkeller/Three Floyds: Oatgoop

Now all we need is a good occasion for tasting them—so much good beer, so little time.

At the O’Reilly Where 2.0 conference this week, Google presented yet another feature addition to Google Maps: Street Views (read the Google LatLong blog for the announcement including a video presentation of Street View).

Cool features include: interactive pan, zoom and navigation with the use of the mouse and full screen viewing mode. Here are some examples of my past hour (yes, it’s really addictive) of “driving” around the streets of San Francisco:

Also seen above to the lower right is an example of the new 2.5D maps in Google Maps.

For direct links to Google Maps of the examples above: Upper left, upper right, lower left, and lower right.

So far only areas in and around Denver, Las Vegas, Miami, New York and San Francisco are covered by Street View, but I’m sure more cities will be included shortly as this is a very valuable addition to the usual aerial photograps and topographic maps.
